Wedding Makeup Emergency Kit

​Wedding season is just around the corner - are you ready for your big day?

Even after your makeup artist solidifies your face in makeup, powders, and sprays, there can be a lot of variables that can affect your makeup. Here are the items that I would recommend you carry in your emergency kit:

- Lash glue - If your makeup artist is not careful applying just the right amount of glue (especially on the inner and outer corners), or if you accidentally rub your eyes and the lash loosens, you want to make sure you have lash glue on hand for you and your wedding party. I highly recommend getting the Revlon clear lash glue. The glue strength is awesome and the application brush is easy for anyone to use. You can get it at any Rexall or London Drugs. Do not get the dark one - it could get messy if it doesn't get applied correctly and it's hard to correct.

- Lipgloss/Lipstick - It is usually the first to go after all that smiling, talking, eating, and drinking! I usually recommend the bride and the wedding party to carry their own personal lipgloss or lipstick and touch up just before pictures because it is difficult for photographers to photoshop the texture of lips. Lipgloss or lipstick is also fabulous to give your lips an extra surge of moisture because you and your team will be smiling and greeting people at almost every minute that day. I usually recommend a tinted gloss for easy application and you can't really screw up even if it's messily applied without a mirror. If you're going for dark lips like a red or plum, I highly recommend your artist apply a Lipsense color or a Revlon Colorstay color so the dark colors do not smudge whatsoever (unless oils are applied to it). Regular dark lipstick or gloss will be EVERYWHERE - on your teeth, dress, hair, husband-to-be...not a good look for your photos unless you're careful. If you want that high maintenance shade, make sure you designate one of your crew members to be a makeup checker!

- Foundation/concealer - This one is the one that not a lot of people thing of. From my own wedding experience, I ugly cried a lot and was blowing my nose. The foundation came off from me blowing my nose and wiping with tissues...lots and lots of tissues.... I also got a nice little sunburn that day...I'm surprised my photographers didn't return all my photos in black and white... I recommend carrying a small sample with you.

- Blotting sheets/Powder - if you're an oily/combination/sweaty-in-the-summer kind of person, then you may want to carry blotting sheets. My fave is the blue Clean and Clear from the drugstores because they don't have that powder on them and they're cheap! If you're in a pinch, you can blot with tissues. I only recommend a powder after blotting because the powder can get cakey in all the wrong places if it's not a consistent canvas or applied in a uniform manner.

-​ Other - ​Other things you may want to consider carrying are tissues, qtips, bobby pins, and even sunscreen if you burn easily!  My wedding was almost 30 degrees out and we had an outside ceremony.  It was only 15 minutes, but my shoulders and chest turned red from the sun...it was painful...it looked painful too.
